Yamuna School
Our main school is located where it all started, by the Yamuna river, where children in the neighboring community of Keshi Ghaat sell flowers to the many pilgrims who come to pay their obeisance to the holy river. With their wild spirits and tenacity for life to the fullest, these particular children have been the inspiration behind Lavender Jaq. Though they don't have access to proper education and many run their flower business as a necessity, they have a special power to learn through first-hand experience. Art education serves their natural inclinations to explore and innovate while nurturing their creative intelligence. The goal is to expand upon the positive advantages of their lifestyle and business while carving more time and resources for proper schooling. We look forward to many more years with the Yamuna Kids as they grow up to better their community and a new generation blossoms. Please continue scrolling for a closer look at all of our projects. If you are an artist, we hope you will come to visit the children and teach an art workshop in whatever medium you wish!
Our Sister-School in Govherdhan
LJ's sister school is located 22 Kilometers from our main school in Vrindavan. Vishakha Dasi is a teacher from USA who has been traveling and living in India for more than ten years. She teaches english tuition class to a group of children who don't have the resources for proper education. Vishakha also works for the online news publication, Vrindavan today, and Odev ministries which sponsors the english class and helps provide clothes and school supplies for the children. You can support the Govherdhan school today by purchasing a hand-crafted stone bracelet by LJ artist, Alexandria Bartlett. 20% of proceeds will go towards art workshops and activities for these children to start their own businesses and create their bright future.
