Welcome to Lesson 1!
I’m so excited to begin this adventure of creating Clay Animation with all of you. Our watchlist this week includes a very old school documentary on the History of clay animation or ‘Claymation’ for short. And a few of my favorite shows so that we can discuss color palettes and set design. Please enjoy these videos ahead of class!
We will also be playing a little game where each student has a 5-minute treasure hunt for common items around the house that can be used as supplies and set decor. Please discuss any ground rules or off-limit items/areas of the house with participants before class.
You have received two PDF downloads that contain coloring worksheets. If you have any time this week your student can start to color and fill out the welcome packet. A binder and three-hole punch or folder will keep things organized as we will be adding print-outs to the workbook every week.. Please print the Lesson 1 packet to be used and filled out in class this Saturday.
Supplies you will need for class:
Lesson 1 worksheets
ruler
scissors
color pencils, pens, markers, crayons (whatever you have)
school glue
* Luckily everyone ordered one of my Color Theory Clay Sets for this course! I believe they will all be delivered by class this Saturday, so if that’s the case we will do a clay mixing exercise in class as well.
Other news: How has supply gathering been going? If you haven’t gotten everything together yet, do not worry! we have another week or so to collect supplies and we will be discussing how your student can be helpful in the process. Getting involved in shopping and setting up art supplies is a great exercise for students!
Again, I’m so grateful and excited that you enrolled. This will be a learning process for all of us because this is my first ever virtual class! Hopefully things will go smoothly but I want you to know you can reach out any time with questions or concerns. I may not have figured everything out so your feedback will be very valuable.
